Hi everyone,
A bit of a long one, I have just ( today ) had another ICD fitted. I had a subcutaneous one fitted in March, all was well until August when it shocked me when I was outside pushing my grandson, it sent to the pavement and I ended up in A & E in another town with a cut to the eyebrow and lots of bruising.
I was advised it was an inappropriate shock and had various tests with information going to Boston Scientific in America for analysis.
The shock therapy was turned off in the meantime and it was decided that no further adjustments could be done to improve its performance.
I was advised I could have the older type ICD fitted under local anesthetic, which happened today 02/11/21.
So currently I have 2 ICD, the subcutaneous one to be removed under general anesthetic in three weeks time.
The NHS have been absolutely excellent and anyone who needs an ICD should be reassured, although not a pleasant experience, it's a great insurance policy .
