Hello TP69,
Welcome to the forum.
There has been a discussion recently on the forum about taking Hormone replacement therapy HRT, following a heart attack.
Here's a link to the thread.

I hope it helps.
thanks so much, I just joined so still trying to find my feet x
hi,I was on HRT for 1 year until I had a heart attack 3 weeks ago and my doctor took me straight off of it, so now I also have horrible symptoms of menopause as well as trying to come to terms with my heart attack. I've not been given a reason why I cannot take hrt, there is so many conflicting views out there, i have read that estrogen is a protective factor for your heart and body identical carries no risks, so if that's the case why can't we take hrt? I suppose like you I'm going to keep on trying to get answers to this, good luck x
Thanks so much for your response and help. I'm sorry to hear about your HA and your symptoms getting worse.
I will look into this, I'm trying not to become despondent that I might need to sort the HRT out naturally to protect my heart but if there is something somewhere I'm gona find it or I'm gona kill someone lol!
Good luck with your recovery. Do the Rehab its brilliant it really helped me mentally as well as physically deal with it all.
Shout if you need and help or advise.
PS: I just read your profile, I'm also 52 and had a HA from no where which was a huge shock. I too have family history, lost my Dad at 52 to a HA. Where in the UK you based? Join the FB page for HA for under 55 lots of advise on there.
xx
hithanks for your response, I will look into the Facebook page, it really does help speaking to people who understands what your going through, my first rehab appointment is on the 26th of this month so hopefully it will take me on the right path, emotionally I have been all over the place and I don't think having menopause symptoms have helped! I contacted a menopause specialist Dr Louise newson dont know if you have heard of her? she is a pioneer in womans menopause, look her up? her advice is that I can take hrt, but I suppose I'm scared as I've been given conflicting advice, really nice speaking to you, I live in Glasgow, please let me know if you find out any more about hrt, and vice versa if I find more info ill pass it on xxx
Hi I would love the answer to this as I am suffering with hot flushes at night to the extent they wake me up!! They have now started to creep into the day and are driving me nuts as well as getting me down. Basically everything I have heard is you can't have anything because of the heart meds so suck it up!! Well personally I am shattered from lack of sleep whilst still trying to work. I was told sage could help but then if you Google it it says not suitable if you are on blood pressure tablets! So any help out there would be most appreciated
Thanks for your response. I did try Wellsprings Serenity cream a few years back which helped. I dug out my pot of it this morning and put it on, fingers crossed it works again until I find an alternative or not.
I have also been reading that blood pressure is up during Menopause, I take HBP tabs, alot of people are complaining that they make you gain weight too? I'm doing a lot of cardio sometimes 3x a day 5 days a week and the weight it just piling on me instead of off me. Dr's say its menopause. I follow Med diet, I'm at my wits end! Never felt so fit and healthy but so fat grhhh!! its sole destroying! I should be enjoying my new found health but i'm not :o(((
I'm not sleeping either, wide awake at weird times, and usually woken up by sweats, then get cold!
Hi there, I can only speak from my own experience and that is that two cardiologists, two cardiac specialist nurses and two GP’s have all said HRT isn’t suitable / safe for me following my heart attack 4 1/2 years ago. Sorry I can’t offer anything more positive! Take care and stay well x
