Hi, had STEMI 19 months ago 4 stents, put on ticagrelor stopped after a year and was changed to riveroxabin. Coughed up a bir of blood this morning, really worried.

I wasn't changed to anything when my ticagrelor was stopped ..deffo either a 111call of go..hope you get an answer

Thank you for your reply. Have been in contact with doctors today will see what they say. The reason I am worried is because in 2019 I had lung cancer and that was the first sign I had. Had radiation as not fit enough for operation as I only weighed 5 and a half stone. But my heart was fine then so I think it was the radiation that caused my heart attack ,as tumor was very close tio my heart. But have not had any scans for cancer since heart attack as told I would not be able to have any treatment because of my heart failure. Hoping it is due to medication as it does have it as a side effect. Fingers crossed.

Hi Casablanka, l was on Riveroxaban for about 6 weeks and it seemed okay, l think it is one of the new drugs, and the doctors are using it instead of Warfarin, if the blood was bright red it comes from near where you coughed it up from, if dark red it comes from lower down, but dont quote me on this as it could be wrong, my advice is to ask your GP or cardio nurse, it could be from the coughing, but like us all if we see a bit of blood in our spit, then we all worry, its natural, hope it is nothing, regards lind111

Hi, have seen doctor and he is sending me for a chest xray. Just hope its ok as can not get any treatment due to heart failure. but I know blood thinners can cause it and I take 75 mg asperin and riveroxabin. So fingers crossed. Thanks for your reply
