Stress echo

Well I went for stress echo today and failed miserably. Blood presure high .Heart rate high and what felt like a panic attack so couldn't go through with it .I feel so disappointed in myself it was like I had lost control completely. I hope they can think of an alternative.

I checked it out 🤗 could you try the exercise bike instead of the treadmill???

But anyway we all fail at times!

Then we try again!

Don't give up 👍👍👍

If only it was the treadmill but the trust where I live don't use that method any more. It's a drug they inject to make your heart rate go up whilst doing an echo cardiograme.

Oh no, wouldn't like that to be honest! Not surprised you had a panic attack!

A drug to increase your heart rate sounds stupid to me really! Don't like that at all cakes 🤔❤️ sorry you had that awful experience 🤗❤️

Hello :-)

Don't feel disappointed with yourself you went and gave it your best !

If there is no alternative now you know what to expect next time you may not be so anxious and sail through it

I had to have an Angiogram , I failed the first one and they could not do it but as I knew more what to expect I managed it second time and you will to if they decide to do it again :-) x

My recent stress MRI was stopped twice because my blood oxygen was very low, however when I assured them that was normal for me they carried on!I have had lots of scans and find that if I do slow controlled breathing and concentrate on my heart rate then I keep it nice and slow and my blood pressure in check.

As for exercise, for me with my combined lung and heart conditions it is difficult, however I find that yet again controlled deep breathing and a warm up session helps me enormously. My warm up normally includes quite a few squats, then some other muscle flexing exercises before I then get onto the turbo trainer at a very low initial setting and then gradually building up both my cadence rate as well as the torque settings.

When I had a stress echo, I was in tears all the way through it, but we got there eventually. I was initially offered the treadmill test, but at the time my feet were rubbish, so they happily switched it. I've had so many normal echoes, that the stress one wasn't much different. Apart from the tears!

Thank you glad to know I'm not the only one. I would have been fine with treadmill but my trust no longer use that method.I had high blood pressure and heart rate and did not feel safe increasing it even more.

Hello

I am not sure but are these not two different tests ??

I thought an MRI under stress, examines the Heart Function giving the Cardiologist a look at the Heart Working and is a far more accurate test than A Bruce Protocol Test i.e. exercise on a treadmill.

I would think but obviously don't know the Cardiologist went for an MRI because he had seen something on an ECG that needed further investigation, to either confirm or dispute his original view.

Wishing you Well

I am going to ask for an mri. The stress test was a chemical one not treadmill as I mentioned my nhs trust no longer use this method as not accurate but use chemical stross ech instead. I guess it's the cost.
