Hi All , hope you’re all keeping well or as good as can be.
Im not one for posting a lot(shy)(lol) but as I promised i would I have to report operation done complete and all I can say is WOW, I was diagnosed with needing triple bypass earlier this year - last Wednesday I was taken to theatre at 1pm - 6hr operation- 12hrs later I’m sitting up eating toast😃 fast forward 5 days and Bank Holiday Monday I’m sitting at home with my Family !
Thanks to you all who have asked how I’m doing the answer is fantastic- don’t get me wrong tired ,sore etc but I really didn’t think I would feel this good
Can I ask one question, I have one little issue -feeling sick most of time not in a bad case - but is this the norm how long before it wares off is it the new cocktail of tablets?
Again thanks to all for your support leading up to my op your a great bunch of people
Ps, must say hospital staff/nurses were fabulous x

General anaesthetics can leave you feeling a bit rough for several days. It's worth asking your GP though, or having a chat with one of the BHF nurses.
Hi PeteGlad you're through the op and onto the recovery, just take it easy at the start and gradually build up, as for the sickness as said previously the drugs used to knock you out will be in your system for a while or some of the new drugs may not be liked by your stomach and may be the cause but always best to check & chat with a medical professional just in case. Lastly just adjust to our new normal & enjoy life as we've been given a second chance. Take care.
Good morning Pete, Really good to hear you are doing so well. My triple bypass experience last year was similar to yours. My op was done during lockdown #2 and the NHS was amazing despite all the other pressures. Your sickness feeling is, I think, normal. I felt very sick throughout my time in hospital (but I was never actually sick) and it lasted a few days after I was home. The anaesthetic is mainly responsible, I was told. It takes a while to clear it from your system. I was given an anti-nausea medication to take home (ondansetron) - just in case - but I didn't use it. I also found that some foods tasted odd for a while after the op - and it didn't help the sickness feeling. I remember coffee tasted particuarly odd. It's still early days for you. Things will get better.
I was the same as well as feeling sick foods and drink took a few weeks before they started to taste the same I was getting worried I would not enjoy them again but it all came good x
Hi PeteThis is the first time I have seen your posts, I seem to miss alot of posts lol.
I just want to say well done on your op.
I was meant to have bypass on July 24th , cancelled because I got a cough but am due my op on Sunday. Its reassuring to read your posts as I'm getting nervous now.
Good luck I’m sure it will all be good - I fully get your feelings but when your sitting there eating your toast after op have a cheeky little smile you deserve it 😉
