About 7-8 years ago I was diagnosed with tachycardia and prescribed Verapamil. I have since had no follow-ups, apart from one visit to my GP about three years ago when I felt the tachycardia was getting worse, and was told to take one extra tablet a day. Up until 28.08.21 I continued taking this dosage of the medication.
Over the past few weeks I’ve been experiencing irregular heart rate, and was experiencing breathlessness and extreme fatigue, and was admitted to A&E on 28.08.21 after feeling very poorly. After being monitored for several hours, and having blood tests and a chest X-ray, I was told I have atrial fibrillation, and that I should immediately stop taking Verapamil and must now take Bisoprolol and Apixaban.
I am now waiting for an appointment with a Cardiologist for a heart scan, what should I expect to happen please?
