Sudden rush of blood to head after dizzy

I was sitting at the hairdressers and all of a sudden I went all dizzy and then a big slow rush & boom to my head. I haven’t had this for years but this one was the longest & worst I have ever had. It wasn’t very nice & I really felt like I was going to faint.

Does anyone know what this was & what may have triggered it, I had breakfast and walked the dogs, nothing unusual that morning.

Any suggestions please .

I don't know what it is Susan, but I've also had it at times. I have atrial fibrillation and get flutter too. Just as I'm about to pass out I come back to full consciousness. It's a horrible feeling, you feel yourself drifting away and a darkness descending. Must admit I haven't had it for a few years now.

I can only assume that it's the heart going a bit haywire.

It is horrible as you just have to wait. I always thought it was a massive beat but this one was weird. I have a headache over the top of my head now, but its not bad.

Thanks for sharing your experience, its good to know you aren’t the only one xx

I don't know what it could be Susan but I had it recently and it was a nasty side effect of medication . Perhaps a chat with your gp would put your mind at ease.

Hi Susan, I get that feeling when I get up off the sofa, not when I get out of bed, which is strange. My legs also feel very heavy. I stand still for a short while & it goes. I also get a heavy head for a while. It does frighten me, but has been going on for a few months now. I know exactly how you feel, not nice. Take care

Needs to be examined to be safe and hopefully cure the problem. Brian

Hi I also get that sometimes when I stand up, I get a whooshing noise and a headache. It sometimes goes into a migraine. I have tried to make sure I drink plenty. I have taken my blood pressure but it’s normal at the time. I’ve kept a diary but there’s no pattern. It is worrying and afterwards I feel delicate. It’s something that has been happening for a few years now sometimes frequently then not for months 🤷‍♀️ Please keep us posted if you find out anything.

I wondered about blood pressure as well, its weird isn't it when you cant tie it in to anything

It seems a lot of people get it. I did wonder about vertigo or something similar?

I wondered if it was my heart missing a beat or two and then having a massive one to make up for it?

Hi guys. Please don't hesitate to go see your doctor and talk it over. Just a bit of reassurance will do wonders for you.

I have had it a few times over the years Could be stress getting up to quick or maybe migraine related like an Aura before you get a migraine but yes if it's worrying you talk to your GP...

It came on when I was sitting down, I did get a headache but it wasn’t a migraine. I am not glad you got it but glad others get it if you see what I mean xx

I sometimes get itIts either when getting out of the bath or up off the settee. Its like a buzzing in the head and a blackness with dizziness as if your going to pass out. Then it passes.

Ive mentioned it to my HF nurse who says its just a side effect of the meds.

It is horrible though.

My beta blockers were making me dizzy - thankfully, off them now. If you're on beta blockers, they may be the cause. They lower your blood pressure, thus making you dizzy.

I have had something weird like this for about 30 years and could never explain it exactly but I have a pacemaker and this weird feeling happened and I sent a transmission to the triage nurse and asked her what it was, she called me back and told me that it was a very short(6 seconds) of SVT. I have had svt many times and had to go to the ER and given Adenosine to reset my heart, but this is so much different! I may not get these spells but once in awhile but they are very scary, I actually feel close to passing out. I hope you get an answer soon.

I have my annual appointment with my heart consultant in october and will ask him.

Your episode sounds scary. Its the feeling of being conscious but unable to do anything, just wait. I wonder if thats how people feel just before they faint? I have never fainted so don’t know .
