Hi I am new here

I have heart disease and HF diagnosed 2019 I also had AF but a successful ablation in 2020 has put me in normal sinus. On diagnosis I was given apixiban 2 x 5mg daily bisoprolol 2 x mg daily ramipril 1 x 2.5mg daily & lansiprazole 1 x 30mg daily I am now off the bisoprolol have been for 20 weeks (this was cut down over 16 weeks by my cardiologist) I am now referred back to my GP the cardiologist said to ask him about other poss coming off the ramipril & the lansiprazole which have never been decreased once I was happy off the bisoprolol which I am. My blood pressure & heart rate are both well within the normal readings so I am trying to get an apptment & also blood tests as I've not had any done for over 12 months this would leave me on apixiban only which my cardiologist said I will be on for life! Anyone else had similiar experiences coming off meds? Thanks

Sorry that I cannot relate directly, but my brother has similar issues to yourself and he is just on Apixaban. He couldn't cope with Bisoprolol and an alternative beta blocker was never prescribed - it may not have been essential. Neither has he ever been prescribed blood pressure medication such as Ramipril, so I guess he didn't need it.

With regards to the Lansoprazole which is a PPI, it is purely to protect your stomach from the effects of the other medication. Personally I dislike this kind of medication as it can create a problem trying to solve one which often may not even exist. In some ways I am pleased I am allergic to PPIs.

Just been diagnosed with AF and just come out of hospital and gave been given apixiban 2 x 5mg daily bisoprolol 2 x mg daily. I was already on ramipril 1 x 2.5mg and atorvastatin as had a heart attack 2012. I'm worried about the Bisoprolol as have asthma but I do have further appointments with the cardiac team and it was mentioned that they'll probably try the shock treatment to see if that regulates the heart rhythm again. It's nice to hear your treatment is working.
