Should I be worried

Hi, I am a 31 year old woman. Over the past two years, I have been feeling a strange tightness in my chest clenching excellerated heart rate , followed by feeling sick and cold and shivery. I get this roughly every six months. My dr thinks its just acid reflux, however hasnt seen me in person in over a year and a half and my reflux medicine hasnt changed. I know this sounds silly but I am constantly worried I am having some mini heart attacks.

You owe it to yourself to pursue it. Ask for a face to face appointment. Peace of mind is important yet alone a correct diagnosis. Hope it goes well

Definitely pursue an appointment with a cardiologist. Acid reflux can mimic heart symptoms -- but also vice versa. As an aside, as you probably know, women are not often taken seriously by cardiologists because their symptoms are different than men's.

Definitely push to be seen. I had those symptoms for 3 weeks and dr diagnosed acid reflux over the phone. 3 weeks later was on route to hospital in an ambulance with a masdive heart attack and consultant said may have had minor ones in the run-up. It may be nothing but better to have it checked x

If/when your episode re-occurs and you have had no joy anywhere else perhaps get yourself to A&E where amongst other checks will be a troponin test to determine whether or not you have had a heart attack, good luck with whatever you decide x

Yes definitely pursue with your GP. I put up with similar symptoms for 4 years until I finally went to the GP. Ended up having emergency double by pass. Read Angela Maas book A Woman’s heart. Good luck.
