I have now had my Bisoporolol increased to 2.5mg and with a view to taking it to 10mg over the coming months and today been prescribed Ramipril 1.25g one a day with a view to increase that to 10mg over the coming months.
Has anyone else had a similar prescription and if so had any side effects or noticed anything different about themselves? My Cholestrol is at 5.9.
Sorry of this is a bit of a drag but to be honest I am just concerned about all the medication I have to take and certainly about increasing doses month on month.
Thanks for any help or advice.

I would not worry about your medication. I am surprised you were not given 10mg of Ramipril and Bisoprolol straight away. I was on both for 12 months before reducing Bisoprolol and stopped ramipril. Statin and aspirin still on
Put your trust in your cardiologist he or she will have done many procedures and I am sure there is a medical reason for all your meds which remember can be reduced in the future
Hi- being on a cocktail of meds post bypass is common. My clopidogrel was stopped after a year- although I did have to mention this was the original plan to my GP!!! They tried to raise my bisoprolol but I felt like a zombie above 1.25. I think they are keeping me safer so I just accept the meds- & manage any side effects
Hi,As anyone after bypass, I am on a cocktail of drugs similar to you. All those drugs have a different function to keep your heart from working too hard so the bypasses can take their time to adjust to their new functions. That can take a year or even longer. I had never taken a pill in my life before the surgery, so it was hard not to feel like medicine cabinet. But as long as it keeps me alive and I can start doing the things again I was doing before I am not complaining. Stick with it, try to lower your cholesterol further with a healthy diet and you will feel better for it.
Thank you I was expecting to feel great by now but still get tired so quickly so your post helps me understand that it can take a while longer than I expected, much appreciated
Yes, the literature I received before the surgery mentioned that in 5/6 weeks I would be back to 'normal'. 6 Weeks after the op, I was just able to walk to the loo and back. That certainly was not normal for me. I used to cycle 20km every other day and walked and did yoga the other days. After a little setback I am now walking 40 min a day, but haven't started my yoga and fitness training yet.
I keep on saying to myself: 'Give yourself the time, there is no rush, but golly, that is hard when you're so used to get up and go. Anyway, it is one day at a time😊
Am six weeks post a quadruple bypass and am on 2.5 mg Bisoporolol, 40mg Lipitor, 75mg Aspirin, 7.5mg Lisinporol and on the Ferrous Fumarte for another six weeks . My surgeon has advised my medications will be assessed continually and I will have further blood tests in six weeks which will determine whether I can reduce or possibly stop certain ones . I would concur with other members and trust your surgeon . For the record I am feeling very well six weeks later and walking 45 minutes a day and have lost 10kgs already on the back of a healthy diet .
