I'd like to know if possible how you cope in this heat, I'm on a 1500ml of liquid a day restriction.. And that includes wet foods like ice cream..it doesn't take long for dehydration to set in ....any tips would be grateful...thanks

Hello and welcome to the forum!

I can imagine how you feel. My estimated intake is 3000ml plus and I have noticed my urine output drop over the past few days.

You can actually increase your intake in hot weather but this has to be adjusted by your medical team. There is a BHF article about it here:

bhf.org.uk/informationsuppo...

If you have trouble contacting your team it may be worth calling the BHF nurses tomorrow.

Many thanks, I will look into it...

I suggest that you speak to your GP/Cardiologist, in hotter weather you should probably increase fluids to compensate, especially if walking/exercising.

As the others have said, go back to your medical team to see if it can be adjusted upwards for a short time whilst we have a heat wave. I monitored how much I drank once, and how much left the building so to speak. Now that was in much cooler conditions and I was amazed at how little I urinated out. I try to keep hydrated in the hot weather and it is hard so its siesta time and I just chill down at work if there during the heat of the day.

It's difficult isnt it. Lets hope for some cooler weather soon. I had to go for some routine blood tests last week. They could not get any blood out of me, told me I was dehydrated and the doctor came in asking what Id been up to??? I had been to the allotment and done some weeding and walked my usual walk earlier in the day. I was basically told off, bit weird and told to go home, do nothing else and re hydrate. They made a right mess of both my arms trying to find a vein, I am dreading going back tomorrow in case the same thing happens again.

Hi, I had the same last week , where they couldn't find a vein, and then while in hospital they gave me a glucose drip which I then have to take into account for my daily intake...I can't win🙁
