Feeling ok now but having op cancelled at last minute did knock me for six
But wanted to sing the praises of Papworth,I had been home a few minutes and a senior nurse off the ward I was on phoned up to make sure I had arrived home safe. Following that my surgeons secretary phoned to apologise and to say she would be getting my new date sorted first thing Monday, she had phoned me from her home.
One other downside to all this is the fact that my shaved chest and stomach has put paid to any modelling work that may have come my way. I am going to have a relaxing weekend as the heart has been having quite a few episodes over all this.
There is 1 thing that makes me smile when in hospital is being woken up in the early hours to have blood pressure checked, and I always think it would probably be a lot lower if I had not been woken up.
Thanks everyone for all your messages and encouragement it really helps.๐๐

That is such a shame, missing out again. Love being woken up to be asked if I need something to help me sleep. Pity about modelling jobs. Lol. Please keep your spirits up. Take care. Moni
I always have said it helps if you can hang on to your sense of humour and so glad you have as not much is making me smile at the moment but your posts do
I have to say a lot of male models do get their chests shaved now a days so you could actually still get some work not all is lost they may have done you a favour
The other positive and I think a relief to some reading your posts is you are back with that fridge full of food and now can eat it before it goes of and if I were you I would treat myself after all you have been through and dealing with the disappointment a couple of times yet taking it so well
I think we are all behind you here and hope you get that op soon x
Oh goodness, didnโt know itโs been my husbandโs 80th birthday today so itโs been hectic and have not logged on until now. Your great attitude will see your recovery go really well. Try and have a relaxing weekend and fingers crossed it will be all systems go with the phone call Monday.
Thank you, itโs been lovely, our sons have spoilt him rotten, heโs had some wonderful presents. This morning this huge box was delivered because of his stroke I have to open most things it did say careful with sharp blades! I wish I had known what was in it and could have video because his face was an absolute picture this very large balloon floated out with all this sparkly confetti made up of 80s he was struck dumb ๐
Happy 80th to your husband I hope you both have a lovely day ๐ฅ, things are still going well, still reducing the steroids but on Friday a huge filling came out and I only have half a tooth left, gutted dentist not open till Monday, I hope you are both feeling well at the moment, take care char x
Morning char,Thanks for the good wishes, we are both doing ok. So sorry about the tooth, hope it doesnโt give you too much trouble over the weekend, it always seems these things happen either weekends or bank holidays. So pleased to read they are still reducing your steroids ever upwards.
Had a letter last Saturday, an appointment for my 5 year review with the cardiologist thought the date was for the 1-6-21 so thought I had missed it reread it it says 1-6-22 so for 12 months time!! They are really booking us ahead of time๐
Hi so far what's left of tooth ok, but I am sticking to soft food ๐just in case, I am terrified the rest of it breaks off, that is a very long time for an appointment and it will probably get changed! I am now on my fourth appointment for the genetics Councilor and I will need to change it as we are on holiday, my son was at the Queen Elizabeth yesterday getting all the tests done to see if he has the faulty gene, I so hope he doesn't fingers crossed for a good result char x
Will have my fingers crossed too. Have a nephew just happens to be a surgeon in the USA. He is in the middle of a course of radiation treatment for cancer, his mother died from a similar cancer so him and his brother have been gene tested and both carry the same gene as their Mum, Chris is now concerned for his 3 children so is having them tested.
I really hope the children will be fine, my brother has still to go and get tested he has three daughters he is mid 50's and compared to the way I felt at that age he seems absolutely fine I hope this will be confirmed after the tests, my older son refused to go, he has a daughter so I am pretty angry about it but he 43 so not much I can do char x
I know how difficult you must be finding it, but as you say they are grown ups. Because my valve was worn out the surgeon said you are either born with good genes or your not, my Dad had all the same symptoms as I had but this was years before replacement valves. So I worry about my boys and Granddaughters. Craig who lives in Australia had an ECG done 18 months ago and everything was good, but as for genes havenโt a clue.
-007- secret mission is to deliver 80th Birthday Congratulations to Pauline's husband. The message readsโฆ
"We at the palace are delighted to wish you, Paulines husband, a very Happy 80th Birthday. Morning,That post as just made him laugh out loud, thank you very much. Hope you and yours are doing well still thinking of a tour round our beautiful Scotland?
So sorry this has happened for you again but Iโm sure it will happen very soon they are obviously going to try and make it happen as soon as possible in the meantime enjoy that fridge ๐x
Amazed you haven't had a sense of humour failure! Shame about the modelling gigs this weekend...but at least the contents of your fridge might be some consolation. Hospital sounds like it was right on it, so you should have a new date soon. But deflating nonetheless, so fingers crossed you get good news on Monday. Frances
Hi Carluke, sorry about the delay. A word of warning if you eat all the contents of the fridge your modeling career is out of the window, DON'T DO IT. Take care.Ruth
Sorry to hear about the delay, especially as the door almost opened for you. I found Papworth excellent with their PR and hopefully this won't happen to you again.
As for obs during the night, my most amusing (not at the time) experience was in Kettering cardiac unit when I was being consrantly monitored electronically. When I went to sleep my heart rate dropped and set the alarm off which immediately woke me up! Thankfully the parameters were quickly adjusted.
Carluke, like everyone else so sorry and disappointed for you, but you have a wonderful attitude. It must be so frustrating for the doctors in charge of your cased too and I'm sure everyone with any clout or influence will do everything they can to get you in as soon as feasible. Please continue to keep your spirits up.
Oh Iโm really sorry to hear youโve been cancelled again and itโs such a rollercoaster when itโs last minute, isnโt it? Stay positive and it will happen. I think the hospitals push you up the priority list a bit more when youโve been cancelled. When I finally had mine, I was told I was the only case for my surgeon that day but second case in theatre as he was on call for assistance with the other surgeonโs first case if needed, so they didnโt come and get me until about 10.30am but then suddenly it was all systems go! It will be for you too very soon Iโm sure. Good luck!
Have been following your very up and down progress over the last few days and so sorry to hear of the latest cancellation. It says a lot about you, that you can keep your sense of humour. Your hospital follow up was excellent, if a little unusual! Wishing you all the best for a new date really soon. Don't overdo the modelling work and try and avoid the post shave itch!๐x
Had no idea you'd been sent back home. Emergencies can't be helped and if I was he emergency I'd be glad I was pushed in but it's still awful for you.. Not sure I would have coped.
Pleased to hear that the nurse and secretary took the trouble to phone you. Although it is not their fault, or anybody else's I suppose, it is good when people in official positions do acknowledge how hard these last minute delays are on patients. Sounds as if you need some rest and relaxation over the w/e (are you a sports fan at all - I love tennis, and Wimbledon starts next week and of course plenty of football at the moment). If you can spoil yourself in any way you should and look forward to hearing from the hospital soon - you should be top priority for the next admission space.
I know the uncertainty isn't what you need right now, you just want to get the op and take the first step in the recovery journey - it'll happen soon I hope. Re the modelling work, just let them know you'll be available in about 3-4 months x
