Sitting in the childrens hospital while my 12 yr old has mri. He was born with bicuslid aortic valve which is now leaking a fair wee bit and started medication in January this year. I wasnt allowed in with him cos had a stent fitted after heart attack 6 weeks ago. Im sure my bp is flying today!

Relax - I am sure he will be fine. If he is anything like I was ar that age he will be more interested in the technology than the test so hopefully he has a technician that can engage with people. He might feel a bit grotty afterwards if they use dye and, maybe, a beta blocker to slow the heart for better imaging. Maybe treat him after. Do keep us updated.

The great thing about children’s hospitals is they’re expert at distraction and reassurance (even if they think they’re too old to be bothered about space ships in the ceiling etc) x
