Any side effects from stopping Prasugrel

My GP has now stopped my Prasugrel after 18 months as prescribed by the Cardiologist. Are there likely to be any side effects?

When I stopped taking Prasugrel, as prescribed after 12 months, I had no side effects at all. I was thrilled, however, that the dreadful bruises I had been suffering as a side effect of Prasugrel (some so spectacular that I took photos of them) also ceased.

Celebrate.

I am in exactly the same position. I stopped about 2 months ago. I’m pleased as it reduces the risk of possible bleeding issues. I also stopped the Lansaprozol proton pump meds as well. I assume you still on aspirin like me which is supposed to do enough anti platelet work at this stage. Good health to you:)

I’m still on it. Prescribed for one year. I was really looking forward to it stopping in September until I read o d if the posts here that said something like” don’t be to keen to come if it because after you do it will all be down to you then not to get veins getting all furred up again.” It upset me so much I asked my heart failure nurse about it. She said it’s not like that at all. But the seeds if doubt are set and it’s hard to move on.

However reading the upbeat messages here have made me feel more reassured.

It’s not that your veins will get clogged up like they did before .. other meds are taking care of that .. your blood vessels should be in better shape because of meds .... it’s the actual stents that needed anti platelet to stop them from “healing over” its estimated that after a year on the anti platelet your body has adapted to the stents ... I do read that some docs keep patients on longer than a year .. I wouldn’t have minded but mine was keen to get me off.. All reports I have heard have been favourable regarding the cessation of the anti platelet..
