Stress and anxiety waiting for next AFib episode

Morning all, I’m having quite a hard time dealing with my AFib diagnosis. I’m waiting for an ablation but have been told there is a really long waiting list so could be quite a while. I’ve since had another AFib episode which involves me having to go into hospital to have a cardioversion as it never rights itself back into sinus rhythm. I’m fairly young and have a very young son and I am also the main wage earner, so I’m constantly worried about having to take time off work when I’m admitted to hospital and also it happening when I’m on my own with my son as my husband works evenings and weekends. Every time I get a flutter I start panicking that it’s not going to stop which I know is counterproductive as panicking just make it worse. I know no one can really help but it just makes me feel better to put my worries down in writing with people who understand the worry that comes with these diagnoses, I would just like to be at the point where I can get back to my normal life as I feel everything is in hold at the moment.

Hello :-)

I know others will be along that will tell and reassure you more about your diagnosis as there is so much knowledge on here and I am fairly new and just learning about the different heart problems people have , mine is heart attacks but feeling anxious is the worse but very common as it is the unknown and all the what if's

I would have a really good talk with your Doctor or your Consultant , write down all your fears and worries and ask them to answer each one ( that is what they are there for )

I know you are the main breadwinner but at the moment your health comes first and if that means you having to have time of work you can if you had to make cut backs while you do but you need to come first

Maybe if you have friends and family have a little security blanket by asking them when you are on your own that you can phone them and would they make sure they would answer this might be an idea to help the fear

I am a wreck and I don't have the answers how to calm down this anxiety at the moment but just wanted to let you know that you are not alone and you will get some great advice on here :-) x
