Sauna/ Steam room/ after bypass.

Hi everyone, hope everything is going ok.

Just wondered if anyone who has had a triple heart bypass has been told not to use any of these?

Also thinking are you aloud to use a hot tub?

Just thinking, as I would like to possibly join a health club.

Why don't you forget lounging about in Saunas and so on and get some exercise? A good brisk walk will do you a lot more good and it's free.

Thanks, I’m doing loads of walking and cycling. Which feels really good and making good progress but sometimes in life it’s important to slow down and relax a bit or you can end up stressed and then have a H A.

Hi Zzr93. I have had a Double Bypass and a Pacemaker fitted afterwoods due to Rheumatic Heart Valve Disease. I walk a lot, don't cycle (lol), try to eat sensibly, keep a healthy weight but, you're right, we have to slow down at times and relax as well, so I say, go for it....!! 😊😊

I think it's best to ask your cardiac nurse. Sauna, steam room and hot tubs all increase your heart rate. I have a steam shower and jacuzzi bath at home which I really enjoy but since my heart failure diagnosis only use them occasionally and for short periods.

And ignore comments from people who automatically equate relaxing to doing no exercise! Relaxation is also important!!
