Ablation for SVT

What's everyone's thoughts on ablation?

I suffer with Svt am on bisoprol which has helped. My episodes of SVT are not so regular. I have had bouts a week apart in the past but now my last one was this week, before that was Feb and before that was Sept.

After going to hospital. The other night and having the dreaded adenosine they started mentioning ablation again. I'm undecided what to do. I have had ecgs and monitors and scans but they can't find anything wrong with my heart only a slight mitral valve regurgitation which they said is normal for people my age, 50.

So I'm at the point where if there is nothing actually wrong with my heart do I mess around with it? Could it be anything to do with menopausal age? So many questions...

I’m getting an ablation for AFib and svt (parasysmal) . My heart is healthy also. Sleep apnea and overweight have been my cause of all of this. All I know is I want my life back lightheaded dizzy and full stuffy head are always with me! I don’t want this turning into persistent AFib. It’s unnerving when episodes occur and I can’t tolerate any of the beta blockers. I’m only on Eloquis twice a day which I know causes the dizziness . AFib and svt only progresses and so ablation is my friend .

Thank you. I don't know if I suffer with sleep apnea.. I wouldn't b surprised as I'm always awake n tossing n turning.. I thought it was cos I snore like mad and wake myself up with it. I get the dizzy drunk fuzzy feeling too which I thought was anxiety. It's the not knowing when it's going to happen, it runs my life as I darent go far as docs say if it doesn't disappear within 15 mins of starting I have to go to the hospital. I just have lots of questions about ablation, the pros and cons. Mine seems to come on after being stressed x

The book AFib Cure is really great to read and it is written by Electrophysiologists and cardiologists. I found it so helpful and full of great positive info. Sleep apnea is a known factor for AFib and getting my sleep study done was the best thing I ever did to help my wakeful nights. I sleep thru the nights and never ever imagined I would have severe sleep apnea but it makes sense. Also, I found The YouTube videos of dr Gupta York cardiology really great for information .

Also the unknown of incoming episodes is really controlling my life so I am hopeful/grateful that I am getting an ablation and can’t wait. A year of this up and down crazy stressful tide in and out of emergency has really affected my life/mind on so many levels and my families . The meds aka beta blockers (as I have brutal side effects) I can’t do. I take only the eloquis as it’s mandatory for the prep for ablation . They really make me dizzy and clogged head feeling and ears stuffy. Hope you find the information that helps you find good health ❤️

Hi I suffer like your and tend to get a episode once every 2 months. Heart rate of 220. Never had to have the dreaded adenosine, but have been taken to hospital on 4 occasions. What does your heart rate get to. I’m waiting to see the cardiologist. If you haven’t had the Covid had this caused me an episode and have been told not to have the second one.

I'm 24 and had a cardiac ablation last year, although I did have a choice, I didn't really, I needed it doing. I was very nervous about what to expect. I managed to go so far without sedation, and when they needed to ablate i was given some meds to help. I was well looked after and the procedure went as well as it could.

It definitely helped me 😊

Hi I was having them every week/fortnight. The highest my hr has been is around 196bpm. Mostly they last well over an hour or overnight or fof hours at a time and afterwards I feel absolutely drained and achey. Odd times they stop after a couple of minutes but my resus team at hospital told me to go back if they last over 15 minutes. So I rarely go very far in case they start and I need to go to hospital for the adenosine. Once I started on bisoprolol, which made me tired to begin with for cpl of weeks, they have eased and I can now go 5 to 6 months too and then ya get confident n hope it's stopped for good and then bam! It's back so off I go again to hospital. They have mentioned thinking about ablation but I'm undecided atm. I don't want to mess with my heart and freeze or burn bits when they have said my heart is healthy and who knows if I have it done it might make it worse. I just want it to disappear and give me my life back 😁

I feel like Iv just read my own story. This is exactly how I am. Like you said your self you don’t leave the area just incase or if you do your research where the nearest hospital it. How many years have you suffered. Mine have been at there worse the last 2-3 years before that it was literally maybe 1 a year. I know I don’t fancy the freeze/burn. Although my mam had it but she suffered af and it has worked so far for her. But I’m happy with my bisop at the moment. I’m in the lowest dose at the moment because I hate taking medication and if it gets worse I know I can up it. Hope your doing well. Xx

Mine has been for about the last 6 yrs. But only been diagnosed for last 2 to 3 yrs because about 5 to 6 yrs ago I had 24hr ecg n the nurse practioner told me it was normal so I just plodded on thinking they were normal n feeling soooo drained after an episode. Then I start to think us it menopause related?I started with 1.25 bisoprolol and was told we could. Always increase it too. Then I started to feel some ectopic so the cardiologist told me to increase the 1 tablet to 2 but because it makes me feel sooooo tired if I increase I increased by 1/2 a tablet which made me feel a tad tired for cpl if days but it's worked and stopped my ectopic 😁and I don't feel that uptight anxiousness that I felt before AND touch wood I don't seem to be getting as many episodes. It used to b once a week or once a fortnight n now I xan go up to 6 months 😁😁😁... Its just a bit disheartening when ya go soooo long without an episode and then all of a sudden ya get the feeling!!!! 😔And think noooo not again x
