I am taking Aopixoban and have been put on Atorvastatin

I have read there are contra indications of taking Atorvastatin with Apixoban and would like to know if anyone is on these two drugs.

Yes I'm on apixiban 5mg x 2 daily and atorvastatin 10mg been on statin 10 yrs apix 18 months after nstemi and diagnosed with a fib also Bisoprolol 2.5 also tiotropium , was on amlodipine but weaned off it

in reply toTicktoc

Yes I dropped Amlodipine too. Best I could make out it was to counter the effects of Angina. I never suffered from Angina but I was still prescribed it. Cardiologist agreed (under pressure)!

I am on Apixiban twice daily plus an Altorvastatin 'horse pill' every night (80mg).

I have plenty of pill side effects but the problem is I am on about 6 pills so knowing what is causing what or what is clashing with what is difficult.

Pretty certain nobody in the NHS ever considers the combined effect of these 'pill cocktails'. Certainly nobody ever discussed any of it with me.

What are the particular contra indications that are concerning you?

Yeah - this site is very informative. Amlodipine did nothing much to my blood pressure either.

Hi there, after an Nstemi HA at 58 revealed I had severe arterial narrowing caused by the genetic disorder Familial Hypercholesterolemia I had to have emergency CABG surgery which was a massive shock as I’d no idea I had the disorder. Since the surgery I also suffer from AF so, in order to prevent clotting problems or the condition furring my arteries again, I must take apixoban 5mg twice daily and a high dose 80mg atorvastatin plus 4 other low dose meds each day. I must admit to having slight side effects from the pills (though couldn’t say which causes what) but must accept I must take them as, even though my surgeon said I’ve been ‘mended’, the condition itself plus paroxysmal AF is still there so I need treatment to help prevent problems recurring. I also lost weight and take regular exercise to keep fitter and in the circumstances I feel so lucky to have found the problem, get it treated and be here and excepting a few side effects generally feel healthier than I have in many years.

I have been on both since my NSTEMI a year ago. I do take Lansoprazole to protect my stomach but no problems. 👍🏼
