Hi all,

Not the greatest Subject but cannot find any information on Dr Google except for one piece from 2017.

Can you take 25mg viagra for ED after you have had a mechanical aortic valve replacement?

Could say I'm asking for a friend but I won't insult your intelligence.

Tell your friend to speak with their GP 😉

Agree with Hidden as much depends on his health and medication. Viagra can in some cases cause a dangerous, even fatal, drop in BP.

Agree with both of you, GP does take 2 weeks to get an appointment but, will check it out.

I am only asking if anyone has experience with this and not necessarily asking for medical expertise.

I.will add that he was prescribed this prior to the replacement and my question is specifically related to the use with a mechanical valve.

Many thanks

Most GP Practices have alternative ways to contact them, like eConsult or email, check your Practices website, in my experience it is far quicker.

I had a friend wondering about this too! The safety aspect I mean. Conflicting information as it is supposed to open up the arteries and increase blood flow - indeed it’s original (I think) ‘purpose’ was to help recovering stroke victims? That would be me?Anyone else have any, er experience?

This really is one of those subjects that does not have much forthcoming information.

I have my first ever counselling session on Thursday, it was offered as part of cardio rehab, precisely due to ED. I had a hope it would dissappear after I had blood flowing to the parts others Could not reach via my new heart, and for 3 particularly fantastic events it did, not quite perfect but impulsive instead of planned.

However as recovery has progressed the miracle has slowly deflated, literally in my case, and now I will have to resort to asking the Councillor if they can find out.

I will update this post if I receive information.
