I am on candastartan previously on ramipril which I had to come of because of cough.I have back pain and I don't belive the candesartan is controlling my bp . Which has always been fine but now up.I am being investigated for unintentional wgt loss so far nothing has been found although I am awaiting endocrinology appointment. My question is would I have to wean of candesartan before being stopped or just change to something else.

Changing from candesartan
They can stop Candesartan at the drop of a hat - as simple as that. They stopped mine, and i was on the maximum dose of 32mg. Like you, i was moved on to it due to the cough with Ramipril - but it appears Cardiologist Consultants, NP's and Surgeons have no issues stopping you without any weaning involved. I certainly didn;t experience any issues with it being stopped that way either.
Thankyou for reply may I ask what you take now.
Well, i take a whole plethora of medication following surgry last year that came with severe complications. They stopped the Candesartan prior ot the surgery, after which i took nothing along the lines of theose medications; but the local Cardiology Clinic have just re-introduced it at tthe 2mg level as part of the management of AF that i developed as a result o f the surgery.
If you are looking for a 3rd option, enquire about Entresto - i loved it but it did not agree with me - as you can tell, i've not been overly lucky with my heart condition in the last 18 months - though i am alive, so maybe i have been lucky? 🤔
