I have had a 10mm stent put in to cover 2 x 90% blockage in same artery. I have been prescribed clopidogrel. I am feeling so tired and pains everywhere since starting them 5 weeks ago. Is this normal? Did not have any symptoms before stent and blockages only discovered during health check.

In the early weeks after stenting nearly all of us suffer aches and pains. This is usually as a result of the invasive procedure and they end. I would be surprised if the only medication that you were prescribed was Clopidogrel. I have been on it for 2 years and have no side effects. However we all react differently to the medications. Your body takes time to acclimatise. So make notes of your symptoms and if they continue to trouble you discuss with your GP or cardiologist to maybe get an alternative or tweak the dosage. Relax.

Clopidigrel is an anti-coagulant, so I suspect it is not the cause of your tiredness and pains. I would expect that you have been prescribed a beta blocker such as Bisoprolol which can cause tiredness. You may have been prescribed a statin as well such as Atorvastatin which can cause aches and pains. I would certainly speak to your GP or Cardiologist about how you are feeling.

Thank you for your replies. Yes I have been on Cardicor 1.25 and Omesar Plus for 10 years but also on Aspirin. Oh also on Lipitor 20mg

I see Omesar is an ARB and Lipitor a brand name for Atorvastatin. Cardicor seems to be somewhat more specific for impared function of the left side of your heart. The issues you are experiencing could perhaps be a reaction between one of these and the Clopidogrel. I would certainly raise the matter with your Cardiologist.

I hope that you get this sorted out. All the best,

Gerald

Just been to cardiologist and thank God heart doing fine but has taken me off statin Lipitor and will be process of elimination if that dosnt work. It’s drug related anyway which is best outcome.

Great news - sounds like he has a plan. I'm a great believer in taking drugs that suit us and not ones that don't.
