My brother in law is having his pacemaker changed because of infection. He has been offered a Micra Leadless pacemaker - he had never heard of one before, nor had I. Any one any experience or other solid information on these gizmos ??

Micra Leadless Pacemaker
I have heard about these, but wasn't aware that the NHS was undertaking procedures with these devices. Here's a link to the manufacturers website:-
Thank you for interesting link above. I had a conventional pacemaker fitted at Glenfield Hospital in similar circumstances like in this article in October 2020, but no one mentioned anything about the smaller, mini version at the time and I was fitted with the conventional pacemaker.
The surgeon had considerable difficultis fitting it during the surgery and so my recovery was quite unncomfortable. Since I knew nothing about the procedure (this was done as an emergency) I was quite shocked to realise how big the device was and how close under my skin, so I am very self conscious about it, I wish I had something smaller and not so obvious.
On the other hand I am not sure how I might feel about having piece of metal inside my heart, if offered. Still, I am grateful that I have been "rescued".
Thank you, for your response HappyJo, I am sure that I will get more use to it, in time.
