This morning I had to use my angina spray while I was at work. About 15 minutes later I started shaking, very very hot, sweating, a work friend took over while I sat down and the next thing I remember was her saying that I had passed out. I have been having palpitations ever since and feel really grotty. Has anyone else had this reaction to the spray before.

Side effects of angina spray
hi dandy. gtn has that effect on me. i have to lie down when taking it and can only use it twice or i pass out whether lying down or not. gtn can lower your blood pressure and i already have lie bp which is why i’m like this. how’s your bp ❤️shiona
I only used it twice in a whole year because it gave me an instant head ache....where I felt like my head was going to explode and when that subsided I felt drained and tearful. It’s at the bottom of my bag and I won’t use it again as with a lot of drugs....the cure is worse than the illness
Once, soon after my heart attack, the paramedics suggested I use GTN tablets rather than the spray. With the spray you have a measured dose that you can't control. With a tablet under your tongue you can remove it if you start to feel bad.
Thankyou for that. I had a stent fitted in December 2019 and have felt brilliant since had a few settling problems with my meds but that’s sorted now, don’t think I’ll have to use a spray or equivalent again.....here’s hoping 🤗
After my heart attack I was put on angina tablets and a spray which was changed to GTN tablets ; never needed either. I did use the GTN a couple of times to see if my chest pain was eased by it but it had no effect. I Now take nothing apart from aspirin, something to protect my stomach from aspirin, a statin and a diuretic I'd been taking already for something else. I did find the GTN tablets suited me far better than the spray because I had control.
Hi, I have to use mine regularly and there are times when it wipes me out for 10 minutes and times when I'm useless for a day. Almost every time I get a splitting head ache. The way I look on it, it's part of my illness and using the spray is better than being dead.
The consultant told me to use the spray. No one ever tells you about the side effects. But like I said, better to be a bit washed out than have another HA.
If you read the reply from qualipop they do tablets that do the same as the spray but if you feel bad you can remove them as I think they are put under your tongue not swallowed

I have used GTN many times and other than a headache for a very short time after I had no problem. Then one day I felt angina symptoms so took my GTN. I felt weak and vision was blurry. My wife took my BP and it had dropped to 43 bpm.
I went into, what my wife said was reminiscent to a seizure. Then blacked out.
I came to with my wife on a 999 call for an ambulance.
I was taken to hospital and released after tests with everything fine.
Apparently, my heart rate probably low before taking GTN and when I took it it dropped even further causing blackout.
I was told if I needed to take GTN to site down from now on.
