Hi all I just wondered if anyone has had a funny feeling in mid chest maybe an ache but strong earache pain in right ear. While trying to work out what was happening it went so didn't use GTN spray . This happened just after getting up for loo and returning to lay in bed. It was 6.50 am I have angina but have only had two episodes and these were while walking up inclines and the reason I was diagnosed . Both different symptoms . I have shingles for three weeks and get nerve pain below my right shoulder yesterday it came on quite strong and I felt if it had also included chest area again went before I could even think of using GTN spray . I am concerned I have just returned from holiday and have another week booked In three weeks also in Europe. Sorry for long text any comments welcome

Hi

I am not medically trained, so take this as just my thoughts. I have never heard of anyone complaining of earache with angina before so my gut reaction is that the two are not related. You mention shingles - it will not need me to tell you that it affects a whole nervebranch so I think I might be looking at that as a possible link. Bottom line however, is go and see your GP and discuss it with him/her.

Thank you Steve for reply I will phone the heart nurse at the hospital see what she says. It has made we very anxious that my angina is changing from stable to unstable.

Hi I had a heart attack 3 weeks ago, I was being treated for gallstones as pain was in my back and went up to both ears, it felt like they were popping/pressure like after a flight. I rang 111 and the GP who called me back told me to ring 999 as it was symptomatic of a heart attack. Unfortunately it was and I was rushed into hospital and had a stent fitted immediately. I was very lucky. I don't want to worry you but I'd get it checked out by cardio people, my GP said gallstones, better safe than sorry! Let us know how you get on!!!

Hi thank you for reply hope you are ok now and doing well. I phoned heart nurse at hospital and she said she didn't think it was heart and maybe connected to the shingles , she said as it only lasted a short time and that was a good thing . When something like this happens anxiety levels rise so makes things much more worrying .Told me to get GP apt . And check by him. I phoned Cardio secretary to say I was due apt with consultant which she confirmed and said she would get a letter out to me . I will try to get GP apt for tomorrow . Let you know outcome x

Hi Plum53,

I am sorry to hear that you have been experiencing these symptoms. I would recommend making an appointment to discuss this with your doctor. It is always worth informing them of any new episodes of symptoms you have been getting in case they want to run any tests.

If you get chest pain and you are concerned, do not hesitate to call 999.

Take care,

Emily

Hi update as I have just returned from seeing my GP . She looked at shingles sight and showed me which nerve branch would be affected and explained that the pain can come round to the right front side . She listened to my heart and took my pulse said it all sounded fine. Asked me about symptoms and how long they lasted . Looked in my ear but that was fine. She thinks not heart related more likely from shingles . Feel very relieved . Thank you for all the messages I will just watch it see how it goes x

Thanks yes I feel a lot better today. It's not nice this worry about every little ache or change is it. I am still wary though. All the best x
