Hi there, it's difficult answer as everyone is different and while 51% sounds not bad, some people have symptoms with 'preserved ejection fraction'. The best thing is to have a chat with your heart nurse if you have one or your GP. Bending over to put shoes on is often something that makes you breathless though, I try not to if I can! Take care x

Hi, a normal Ejection Fraction is 55-65% so in itself an EF of 51% is ok, but there are other factors that only an expert can consider so it’s important to discuss it with a cardiologist /doctor. Perhaps the BHF nurse helpline can help you with what questions to ask your doctor.

Oh dear. It’s hard to get to the bottom of things, especially when the equipment won’t play along nicely. May be the cardiac clinic can help with a better way to keep it in place. Please persevere with your GP, you’ll get there in the end.

when you have LVSD or LVDD dysfunction, EF really doesn't matter. Mine increased from 46 to 64% in 6 months, but it is still HF and breathlessness is still haunting me every moment. Since I am on diuretic my BP has come down and Dr. is unable to give me ARB.
