On a lighter note

6 months post double bypass and feeling amazingly good - thank you God, thanks the superhuman Medical teams, and thank you all on here for being there. I did have a smile the other day when someone asked “is there anything that is still a challenge” - YES I said - when I sneeze it bloody hurts 😂😂 !!

Apart from that it is all becoming just a vague, albeit unpleasant memory (and hope that is encouragement for anyone going through).

I go for my six month consultant sign off this week and feeling a little proud of getting here.

Terry

Dear terry

You are doing well.

When you need to cough or sneeze then hold a large rolled up towel to your chest. It helps a lot !

Aka A Teddy.

That is realy good and sure it will be encouraging for others reading this who have the operation too. Good to see positive news as well as questions being asked.

Hi Telboi. Great news you feeling so well. I'm 10 weeks after double. ( not sufficient veins or arteries for the 3rd) and I feel very good. I had a bad fall on Sunday and hurt my Sternum when I hit the floor. My new knee ( 2 years old today) is very bruised and swollen but nothing too badly damaged i hope. I'm mobile but I thought I had damaged my Sternum as it's bruised as well. Nice to see how people recovering. Keep up the good work x x

You should really try and have this looked at as it is still early days recovery. Better safe than sorry. If in doubt ring 111 or the BHF Heartline for advice.

Spoke to GP yesterday. Good to take paracetamol and put gel on knee. As I'm mobile didn't think I did any damage. Only bruises and my pride x

I wouldn't worry to much about your sternum Bishop1 - ten weeks in will have given it a good period of time to become part of you and I understand (although there are occasional scary stories on here) that the wiring is like 'Girders Frae Scotland :-)' . Sorry to hear about your fall - stay well there

Thanks so much for your post. It has made me feel so much better and more positive. I am waiting for a double bypass which naturally has been postponed because of covid. As time has gone on I have slowly got more anxious about the bypass but reading your post has lifted my spirits enormously. So good to hear how well you are doing and best of luck for the future

Looks like you have been waiting a long time Ewa, do you have a date yet. As others will say, you will of course feel apprehensive and a little frightened, I certainly was - you just want to wake up after the surgery! Know that you will be in incredibly capable hands of people who do this marvellous thing for us day in and day out. Your world will change for a wee while but with a big positive attitude you will be grand again Ewa. If ever you want to talk about anything, I'm here.
