Hi, I don’t even know what an Anaroid is but I take my bp and pulse quite regularly and I think the difference in your husbands can easily be because bp changes with time, assuming the readings weren’t done at exactly the same time. For instance if he is relaxed for the first reading then slightly concerned as to whether the second one will be higher etc. For info, I take 5 readings on an Omron and then average them.I’m not sure why your readings are different.
Hi - thanks for your reply.
so an aneroid sphygmomanometer is a manual device you probably see in your GP surgery - it has a cuff, a bulb, and a gauge, and you use a stethoscope.
I am not really looking for any feedback on our readings - that is all under control.
My point is that if you have an irregular heartbeat a basic Omron is not the right device for an accurate reading although it will tell you if your heartbeat is irregular which is useful. There are a couple of automatic devices that are recommended - which are mentioned in the article I put a link to.
What is the bpMonitor I
Need please as I have irregular heart rhythms thank you for any advice you can give me

Hi kipper45 this is the link about the monitors. There is a chart showing which ones are accurate - some are very expensive but some not.
I hope that helps - I can't really tell you what to get, that is not my place! Hope you can sort it out - I would be interested to hear what you get.
Can’t comment on your numbers but it is important to be rested for 20-30 mins before taking readings and to sit correctly / relax your arm.
Thank you - good point.
