HiI had stent fitted in November, was home next day.
Tablets I am on are Aspirin, Ticagrelor, Atorvastatin, Ramipril, Bisoprolol and Lansoprazole.
With a bottle of GT spray in case of chest pains.
I have not needed to use it ,
I have a holiday booked in May and when I booked holiday insurance they wanted to know it was at least 6 weeks after my op when I applied for it. Cost me about £145 .
Hi petetop just read your reply, similar to you, HA November 2020 and stent fitted. Similar meds to yours and wanting to book a holiday, hopefully, for later this year. Take it you are looking at overseas, can I ask who your insurance provider is? Many thanks.
Hoping to travel later this year, had HA October last year and one stent fitted, what would insurance company need to know and is a HA classed as a pre existing condition?
Many thanks, not sure I've ever actually been diagnosed with high blood pressure but no doubt the medication I take overrides that as far as the insurance company are concerned?, I take aspirin, bisoprolol, ramapril, atorvastatin, nicorandril and prasugrel
Ramipril is for high blood pressure, both I and my wife take it for this reason.I only started taking it after having stent fitted, never had been diagnosed with blood pressure before that.
Thanks for the above. I think the wording re statins is misleading. Statins can be prescribed as a matter of course even without heart problems and the question says are they prescribed to lower your cholesterol implying you have high cholesterol which may not be the case. I have been prescribed them but chose not to take them.
Well after a heart attack / stent / blood clot on the lung etc I was surprised how cheap travel insurance was - not much more than £200 for a couple. That was for Europe - did not ask about USA as my horizons are limited at the moment. The only insurance question that seemed fitness related was ‘can you walk 200 metres on flat ground without difficulty’ or something similar. As for meds, I guess specifics vary from person to person but aspirin for life; anti-platelet for 12 months seem to be a ‘given’. A beta blocker and a blood pressure reducing pill seem to be the usual additional ‘insurance policy’ so that the heart can’t overwork itself.
Thanks mike2002, sounds really encouraging. Our travel insurance is due for renewal in March, no serious travel plans at the mo but good to hear info like this for when we hope to get travelling again!
I had a drug coated stent mLAD. I tool plavix (Clopidogrel) for one year. Then continued daily 2 baby aspirins (2x 81mg) and 40 mg atorvastatin . I also take CoQ10 600 mg to help replace what the statin depletes, and a fish oil capsule.
Two months after stent I started experiencing a symptom of cold hands. I met another patient who received a stent at the same time period who had the same cold hand symptom appear. He had an emergency stent due to heart attack. My stent was due to blockage. Both my GP and cardiologist have no ideas of the cause of cold hand symptoms. I do not have the discoloration of hands associated with Raynaud's disease.
