I have been taking this drug for anxiety. I have the cold extremities and the poor sleep but have noticed more worrying symptoms and I’m not sure if they are related to the beta blockers or not. Occasionally (like every couple of days), I get a really horrible sensation of squeezing in my chest. It starts gradually then builds up and feels like someone is slowly tightening a corset. I can feel pressure too behind my nose like I’m going to have a nose bleed and I feel light headed. It’s happened in a variety of situations (when active and not) and passes after a few minutes. During the episode I notice my lips go white. I hate it and I’m worrying now I might either have angina or the drug is wrong for me. I am hypersensitive to antidepressants (not sure if that’s relevant). Has anyone else had this? Xx

Have you ever rung 111 when this happens? Or discussed with your GP? If I was you, I’d like to get some professional advice about sudden chest pain and lightheadedness.
I’m so glad you posted! I am taking Bisoprolol which is another beta blocker. I had a mitral valve repair in October but have never had high blood pressure. When it was checked in late October it was 113/70. I have had two instances of the chest squeeze you mention, both after exercise and also one in my left arm when I was doing nothing!I have just written to my surgeon and cardiologist to ask them what is going on . I’ve also had lots of instances of numb hands, migraine auras and visual disturbances and some very strange feelings of lack of co-ordination in my legs. I do hope it is the medication!
