Testing cholesterol levels at home

I would like to buy a decent cholesterol testing device so I can test my cholesterol levels at home, I have aortic stenosis valve so I’m very keen to keep an eye on my cholesterol. I had a good look on the internet but can’t find any useful information. Can anyone recommend one they use at home and if so where can I purchase it please. Thanking you all in advance and sending best wishes to everyone. Xx

Here's a link to an article on home testing kits for cholesterol. The majority don't get a good review as the results are a bit vague.

The BHF have a lot of advice on the subject, see link below:-

As well as the BHF there is Heart UK a charity which provides useful information about cholesterol.

I totally agree, triglycerides are really important indeed although mine are well within healthy levels. My cholesterol levels have always been good as I tend to eat quite healthy. I tried the Keto diet for over six months and my cholesterol levels went through the roof although triglycerides went down. I’m back on my Mediterranean diet now!! 🙂

When doing keto, fat is released and causes cholesterol levels to go up a lot. It's normal and should level out eventually after all the fat is lost and you're eating enough fat to use as fuel.

When I called into our local chemist recently to buy a home testing kit for cholesterol the chemist said that it would be wiser to get a blood test done at GPs as the home testing kits are not very reliable, also quite difficult to get the amount of blood required out of your finger and often they do not give a complete breakdown of the results.
