As we live in Surrey which went from tier 2 to 4 in one weekend I am not feeling it right now SpiritoftheFloyd.Give me a few days to simmer down.☹

Yes. I won’t be seeing my youngest and fiancé (should’ve been her husband by now) or my niece flying from Portugal into Kent with her young family, or my sister.

I’m adjusting to it and given we’re in Tier 2 now I can’t complain although it feels a lot like Tier 3 tbh.

I’ve got friends working in the NHS all Christmas so when are they meant to have Christmas if it’s not only one day? Key workers, emergency services etc.

And elderly folk on their own like my MIL with end stage renal failure who hadn’t seen either of her sons since March.

It wouldn’t have been too bad if they’d just announced this earlier and made it right across the country so people could travel earlier and settle in with family. My daughter in London was saying that everyone was rushing to get out before midnight yesterday. Trains were rammed unsafely.

It was so last minute and very badly done.My son was coming down from Huddersfield, travel booked etc.He hasn't been down since February We were going on holiday with him and his girlfriend in August but then they went into tier 3 which they've stayed in ever since. We are being told to not even stand outside our houses without a valid reason.I feel like I'm in a police state!!As for Christmas well...what Christmas? The way this is being handled is bad for mental and therefore physical health.I have decided never to watch another government briefing, they are too damaging for my health.

What I can’t understand about this new Christmas ruling is that the virus can surely be passed on I within an hour. So how come he has allowed people to spend a whole day together. It would have been much better if Johnson had just said that Christmas is off , and waited until the elderly had been vaccinated. As I said in my previous post young children don’t always display any symptoms yet can pass it on if they have the virus

Quite right. We should have cancelled christmas travel some time ago. I decided to cancel my sons visit to us. As did my friends who live in Manchester. We do, however, both have spouses. So not exactly alone. I have been monitoring the figures and recent increases are huge down in the South East.

Boris & Co are begging us to keep away. Just not making it a legal requirement for one day only.

We are planning for a christmas in May. Or later if necessary. Plus a bit of face time pressie opening next week.

Jesus was not born in late December so our revised date might be a sensibke change. ?.

My daughterand her husband- no children- were going to drive down from their remote home in Scotland . We had all gone into lockdown for 10 days. I feel really devastated but that is the ruling and I can understand . However we are really getting over the great anticipation of them coming and now not coming . It really hurts

Scotland has sealed itself off. All along I have wanted some sectioning off, so the virus is not spread around so much. Wales were first and now Scotland.

Today is the shortist day. Lets hope every week things now get better. Then perhaps a long journey from Scotland can be fixed in spring.

Yes I agree. I thought Nichola Sturgeon would restrict travel. It makes sense really.

Nice one! Here in Wales we have just gone/going into into complete lockdown/tier 4 again. I'm getting so confused I think I'll just hibernate until next spring. Think my fat store is ok for a few months😊😊

It is confusing. We started off as the original Tier 3 in Merseyside back in October, now in Tier 2 not that it makes much difference - still can't meet up with others in pub/restaurant, I get up every morning hoping the weather is OK so that at least I can go for a walk. 😀

I just hope 2021 🙂is a much better year than 2020 ☹️

This is my song of the moment; both on reference to 2020 and the DTA bed!
