Virus test?

I was sent a request that I take a test by Imperial College for their stats and the last question was about blood thinners and bleeding. On filling in the questions on line I said I was on blood thinners and was told I was not eligible. I assume that possibly they are worried about me putting the probe too high up the nose or back in the throat and making myself bleed. Does this mean that those of us with A/Fib and therefore on blood thinners cannot take that sort of Covid Test? I suppose that means that we would have to have a blood test instead. Anyway anyone know if I am right?

I am on Clopidogrel and Aspirin, and because of.my situation have a weekly CovID test so doubt there is an issue. Maybe they are concerned people might get over enthusiastic! Strange one really.

P.S. I stopped counting after the first 29 tests!

I've had 5 tests and not had any problem, they never asked if I was on anticoagulants.

I'm not bothered about the discomfort and would have liked to have taken the test but the declined to use me. Oh well nothing I can do about it.

It's a finger prick test for antibodies to see if you've been exposed to covid in the past. I guess with the anti coagulation meds they don't want you bleeding :)

OK now I understand.

I have had 5 Covid tests (as an inpatient) and I am on Warfarin.

It may be that they are worried about by you doing it yourself rather than by a nurse etc.

I had the same. It is a finger prick text for antibodies and i was refused to take part as I'm on anticoagulant. Guess they are being ultra cautious 're bleeding risk. Pity because I wanted to take part.

I was asked to take antibody test. If you read all the bumf it said ok if within normal limits ( warfarin) so I answered the Q " any reason for not taking test anticoagulant bleeding issues" or similar said no. Got kit and was neg ( though it did say, not accurate for individuals only for larger group trends)

Youve raised some interesting comments. I recently took part in a Covidence trial for which they asked for a home adminstered finger prick test to produce 5 very large drops of blood. They know I'm on Clopidregel and Asprin. I did the test no problem, though when I sent the result card back it was rather messy. I've also had 5 swab tests each time befor going, (or suposed to be going), into hospital with no problems.

Yes, I remember how precious I felt when first put on thinners, but now its just a matter of pressure and patience and everything is fine.
