What’s your experiences of stenting

Hi there Iv just joined and hope to be able to gain information and support as I had a heart attack in August and had a stent put in. Iv just found out the consultant has come across my papers while cleaning his office and now have to have another one. I’m not too happy as I’d not been told about this. I only got a call from a secretary to tell me this. I had thought tyrr St y would have done both at once. What’s people experiences. How many stents can you have. 💖

Hi, I had 4 stents during my first Angioplasty which was followed up by a second Angioplasty 3 months later, the second being unsuccessful at clearing a total blockage. Disappointing you weren't notified of the need for a 2nd procedure at the time but these things happen, at least you are still being cared for 👍

After my heart attack I had two stents fitted then had to go back a month later for another angiogram to look more closely at two more partial blockages to see if they were bad enough to stent. I think they fix the initial urgent problem then look again at any other problems once you have recovered. It's a pity you weren't told but it is quite normal to go back for another less urgent one. . My other two weren't bad enough to stent and they decided medication would work. There are people on here who have had numerous stents; sometimes 6 , I think I even saw 8 once.

Hello Collie, I had 7 stents done at the same time and going back for 2 more. Hope you get sorted this time, if you’re unhappy with the situation you can always contact pals and they will look into it for you. Best wishes.

I had 5 stents between 16 and 18 years ago (2+2+1), then 2 more this year. I thought I must hold the record, until I found this forum and came across people with 9 !

Hello and welcome to the forum!

The Guinness Book of Records says the record number of stents but this appears to have been exceeded a number of times.

A former neighbour went back twice for further stents and appeared to be heading for his fourth angioplasty when he moved. He did not seem to get neither Do Not Smoke nor Do Not Eat Fry Ups!

BTW if an artery is stented end-to-end it is called a Full Metal Jacket!
