Got my letter today, doesn’t look particularly great but I’ve learnt over the last few months that it’s never straight forward when it comes to the human heart.
I have ASD Secundum with left to right shunt. Left atrium is moderate - severely dilated (doesn’t sound good), right atrium is mildly dilated.
Has anyone had/gone through similar? I’m hoping they are still here to tell there story 🤞

Hi there, I also have a sucundum ASD, with a few other things thrown in, 1.8 cm I think, I’m having mine closed in the morning if possible, as the hole has a deficient rim so patch might not work, I remember my cardiologist saying they like to close the hole before the age of 40, so try not worry, I’m sure you will be fine 🙂
How long after you found out you had the ASD did you have to wait for the closure date?? I am a horrendously impatient person and I’ve struggled throughout with waiting on dates.. that said the NHS have been amazing and have gone out of there way to ease my fears.
I will be thinking of you and good luck with you’re closure tomorrow and I hope the little sucker sticks 👍
Haha that made me laugh 😂 , they told me In January it would be one to two months, then covid happened, all ops stopped, but it’s different now, so hopefully you won’t have this awful wait, and thank you😀
