Hi folks, had heart surgery 14 months ago. Mitral valve repair. Felt great for 9 months then ectopics, 22%. Lasted about 2 months then gradually faded away to almost nil. So that's great, except that now occasionally when I lie down in bed to sleep my heart rate suddenly ups a gear to around 100 per minute. This only happens at bedtime. Nothing at all during the day. I don't think it lasts many minutes but it is uncomfortable. Will be seeing a consultant specialist at some time so maybe he or she will sort it. Just thought it might be of interest to some of you.
Regards Mick.

The only thing I do know is that our hearts can beat at up to 100 per minute indefinitely but once it stays over 100 for a prolonged period we’re in trouble.
I had heart surgery 14mths ago to and i get racing heart at night to. I have had this all the time since my heart surgery but does get worse with stress. I as told that your heart beat will do this after surgery. It is a bit disconcerting though.
