Just a question I’ve worn a fit bit for years but new is the heart rate. Variability that I have just viewed, mine state my average is 32ms which apparently is low and also my average nightly breath is 14 breaths per minute. anyone else looked at these or know anything about these states 😊

Hello, I've got a Fitbit and the figures you've listed are quite similar to my figures, my heart rate variability is 25 milliseconds, and breathing rate while asleep is 14 per minute.Normal breathes per minute while sleeping is considered to be between 12 and 20. So 14 is in the good range.
Heart rate variability can be anything from under 20 to 200. The figures tend to be higher the younger you are, and decrease with age. Multiple other factors also have an impact on the number.
I find a Fitbit quite helpful in the numbers of metrics it can produce, and find it informative. I notice from your previous post that you say you're suffering really bad from health related anxiety. To be honest if I was suffering from health related anxiety I would be inclined not to wear a Fitbit as I imagine that all this health information may not help dampen anxiety.
Thank you makes me feel better, I know what you mean regarding the Fitbit but before my diagnosis I used to be super fit, go to the gym and my cardiologist said to stop everything, so my Fitbit for steps etc is about the only thing I have left ❤️
Hi 81now4 years ago I used to go to the gym, cycle, walk for miles it was my thing I loved it, I passed out and had some tests and they found leaky heart valves abs then after 4 scans a while in the heart that had been missed on the other scans apparently, cardiologist said I was probably born with it.
On my first appt 4 years ago he told me not to do the cardio exercise I was doing, I asked about light weights, he said no as can spike heart rate and even Yoga some of the poses are not good 😩
My valves are mild to moderate on the last scan.
I have been relying on walking as I want to stay fit but now with health anxiety I’m not leaving the house, I just feel I’m deteriorating as I’m no longer fit even feel short of breath now doing small jobs never ending really, I used to be so fit so that’s making me sad and effecting my mental well-being 😪
Ask your doctor about walking because it’s such good excercise. A tennis coach told me he doesn’t do the gym and he is very fit. I’m not sure we have to do mini olympics all the time to keep healthy
Thank you I love walking but panicking at the minute going outside due to health anxiety, I’m anxious something will happen to me as I feel dizzy and faint but people are saying this is probably anxiety so going round in circles x
I suppose I’m fortunate. I’ve been a runner all my life and wouldn’t know I had a problem if I didn’t run. My cardiologist says that we must keep you running. I’ve had stents fitted but still get angina pain after about 200 metres. I’m now awaiting another angiogram. He has no objection to me running until the pain starts, walking whilst it subsides then running again. I understand your concern about keeping fit.
Thankyou yes exercise was my thing whilst at school and for 30 plus years after leaving, maybe that’s why it’s so hard it just being cut off like that, maybe I need to get a second opinion re exercise and heart valve problems ❤️
Thanks Pollypuss are the workouts you mention that are monitored at a hospital or health centre? I will just worry now that something will happen if I exercise very sad really
Thankyou Lesley for your message I’m 54 so Tai Chi may be a way forward I’ve not heard of Qigong and might help with the anxiety as well, with the yoga I believe poses like the blank are bad as they spike the heart rate that’s what the registra said anyway 🤔Do you do online classes for Qigong? I will google it 😃👍
Hi, I currently have one class ongoing, but I can recommend a friend for absolute beginners. Try this link, and get back to me if you think you need something more, but I'd recommend trying it our for a couple of weeks at least.
Apologies for using the term 'older folk' as I'd read a few posts and got mixed up about your age!
I have an Apple Watch. I was disabled for five years - but a pacemaker has let me walk 5km a day.
My HRV was getting good for my age (HRV4Training) - but, now that they have increased the baseline pulse on my pacemaker, my HRV gets down to single figures every day - and I ignore it.
