Interesting article by Kat Lay in today's Times newspaper regarding a study carried out by Dr Gal Tsaban , Ben Gurion University. The study involved 249 mildly obese, sedentary people split into 3 groups. First group received advice on eating more healthily and told to exercise more. Second group follow a calorie restricted Mediterranean diet low in simple carbs, lots of veg, swap red meat for fish and poultry, no processed meats and include 28 g of walnuts. The third group went into a super green diet version with added greens , green teas and a plant based protein shake as a substitute for some of the protein.

Men restricted to 1,500 to 1,800 calories a day.

Women restricted 12,00 to 1,400 calories a day.

6 months later :

Group 1 lost 1.5 kg, lost 4.3 cm off their waist

Group 2 lost 5.4 kg , lost 6.8 cm "

Group 3 lost 6.2 kg, lost 8.2 cm "

There were also improvements in insulin resistance, inflammation levels and levels of bad cholesterol.

Bleeding 'eck. That's what you call a result. Your meritorious medal is in the post, along with a catalogue of slinky clothes. So what's your favourite meal?
