Bystolic Withdrawal

Has anyone experienced Bystolic withdrawal?

Was taking it for 8 months.

Tapered it down approximately every 2 weeks from 20mg to 15 to 10 to 5 to 0.

Was taking Bystolic and Nefedipine for high blood pressure.

Currently taking just Nefedipine ER .

Was having dizziness and hallucinations while taking Bystolic, that's why I asked Dr. to taper it down.

It's been about 2 1/2 months since stopping Bystolic and still have random heart rate and blood pressure spikes and occasional dizziness.

Resting heart rate has finally got to the high 70's.

When I first stopped resting heart rate was in the high 90's.

Still heart rate increases to the high 90's with minimal exertion, which it never did prior to taking Bystolic.

Hi MEEE. As you were only taking it for 8 months, and tapered off over several weeks, it's unlikely to be withdrawal. Why didn't the doc suggest an alternative beta blocker? There are plenty around, which we all react differently to, and it sounds as though there was a good reason for putting you on them in the first place. I'd talk to the doc again.

Hello,After the resting heart rate has finally come down I don't want to start a Beta Blocker again. From all the forums I have read all the Beta Blockers have difficult withdrawal symptoms. Thanks for the reply

I was on bisoprolol and tapered off for 8 months. I have now been off them for three months and still getting rebound severe palpitations. My doctor has informed me it can take from 3 months to a year for your body to get back to normal after taking beta blockers or you may be lucky and have no rebound at all

Hello,Interesting.Have your symptoms improved at all?

in reply toBetablocker55

Yes very slowly when first stopped had a lot of anxiety, sleepless nights, nightmares and the palpitations. Now all that remains is a little mild anxiety now and again which I can control ( never had this prior to bisoprolol) and the worse are the palpitations which at it’s worse were over 18000 a day and very strong. Now they are milder but still a few thousand a day with some days better than others. I find that meditation helps and also tulsi tea.
