Just wondering -is this the same as an abalation? Ive recently been put on the list and read the information sheet they sent me. Apparently the full name is Pulmonary vein isolation My rhymns go from very fast to quite slow due to AF

A PVI is a type of catheter ablation where they "isolate" the pulmonary veins (PV) from the left atrium by ablating (burning with radio frequency energy or freezing (cryoablation) the tissue around the PV, which are the most common source of erratic AFib signals. Here is some good info:

I had the procedure last month for paroxysmal AFib and am hopeful that it worked well. I won't know for sure until 3 months since it takes a while for the scar tissue that blocks the erratic AFib signals to form. If it's not successful they can perform an additional procedure, if necessary.
