I think many of us have despaired of doctors and the chopping and changing of medications, and so many of them make us feel worse. We wonder, sometimes, if they have a clue. (Or I do).
A psychologist that works with the body, rather than wanting to hear your life history, might be a good idea.
These days many psychologists work with the body - the breath, exercises for anti-anxiety via the vagus nerve, meditation and other somatic interventions. The 'soma' as much as the 'psyche'.
Your anxiety needs to be dampened down, and physical things can help, as can music.
If you can not walk one kilometre, walk one hundred meters.
Get into nature when you can, walk barefoot on the grass, search out the peaceful things you have enjoyed in the past.
I say all this because I am in the same place as you, and currently hunting for a suitable psychologist to deal with my own anxiety. Anxiolytic meds can help to a degree, but actions help more.
Remember, there is always an element of trauma in knowing that your heart is in trouble, and the stress makes it worse.
The heart doctors only focus of pills for the heart. They neglect the big and important topic of helping us to heal from the huge mental trauma of accepting we have disease in our hearts. Heart doctors have no training or experience in treating that mental trauma, so they only concentrate of giving us heart pills.
Do try to find a psychologist who has experience helping heart disease patients heal from the mental trauma of heart disease. I too am in the same position as Parminter and yourself. Need to heal from the mental trauma of heart disease. The heart pills don't do that - the heart pills only act on the heart, and they have no beneficial action on our mental health at all.
