I had thoracic surgery at Harefield three years ago. It was an unusual and complex situation and, overall, I couldn't fault my care. There was one nurse whom I didn't like very much but that can happen anywhere!

Did you have any particular queries?

Hello Beardy, like you, I had excellent care, so, no I don’t have any complaints, I just wondered if there were other Harefield Hospital patients on this site. I had a triple bypass, 6 years ago, was in for 4 days.

Nurses were brilliant, ( all but 1 )😊

My avr was at Harefield in Feb this year. And my husband had lung surgery there Sept last year. We’re an equal opportunities family and keep both sides of the hospital busy!

We both had fantastic treatment and like you found that all staff were amazing - except for one. Maybe that’s the rule - there has to be one bad nurse per patient?

Equal opportunities, love it, no, that’s just not fair, if you’re going for an operation, then I’m having one too, why should you have all the fun 😃 wondering now that as 3 of us have said all but 1 nurse, must be the same one.

After my cardiac arrest I was treated in Harefield for 3 weeks. They saved my life. There service and professionalism is second to none. I am going back next week for a cardio version and know that I will be treated incredibly well. They also looked after my visiting family. What a fantastic place with the most wonderful staff

Yes indeed on March 9th of this year. Fantastic treatment from start to finish. Just at the tail end of my rehab now. Have loved my twice weekly visits. Great affection for the place and the people...alright except for the night staff on one particular night!

I had my avr at harefield, Oct 2019. Was there for 6 days, staff were brilliant, both pre and post op.

My husband had an AVR in Oct 2016 at Harefield. The care he received was fantastic and I have to say the support myself and our children also received was amazing during such a tricky time.

Hi

I did not have an operation at Harefield but i was takem there by ambulance after a Heart Attack in April (2020) and had two stents fitted, as kept in for 24 hours and was well looked after and the after care was fantastic, also went back there for a Cardiac Nuclear Medicine Scan thaat came back clear.

No problems with any of the staff there at any time.

Hi Molhon,

Yeah, I had my OHS Aortic valve replacement/Aortic Root Graft and Mitral Valve repair done at Harefield in July! I was in for 13 days, and sadly couldn't have any visitors, but to be honest (apart from one nurse at night), I couldn't fault the place - really lovely people.

Hi

I had AVR plus aortic root at the end of July. Harefield is specialist heart & Lung hospital so not a bad place to end up if one has to have OHS. I posted some 'diary' like posts on here with my thoughts as I went through recovery.

Happy to answer any questions!
