25 years ago I was put on beta blockers for high blood pressure, caused at the time by anxiety and depression. I have ‘white coat syndrome’ so always had high bp when it was taken in the surgery. Consequently never managed to get off them.
At the beginning of this year I started to get palpitations. Occasionally I’d forget my beta blocker and started to notice that on those days I didn’t get palpitations. I spoke to my dr who said it wouldn’t be the bb causing my problems. Eventually i convinced him that I should stop taking them. It’s now been around 10 weeks since I took the last one. It has taken awhile for my heart to steady and I still get the odd flutter. My bp is fine. Anyone else ever had such a thing happen?

I only took it for 4 weeks and I’m in my 6 week recovering with the same as you have, I saw 2 people that were recovering as well one said it took 2 months one said 6 months. Knowing you are not alone helps they said baby steps don’t get too upset if heart rate goes up too high by over exerting yourself. They said to rest, take it easy and some took a leave from their jobs. You will get better try not to rush into another medication. It may be just your body resetting itself.
I have now been off bisoprolol for eight weeks and although most of the rebound had gone I am still suffering from palpitations and occasionally nervousness throughout most of the day and night.
Some people get hardly any rebound symptoms and others like myself seem to get them for a long time. Also as you have been on them for such a long time it will take your body longer to adapt back to normal working. It took nearly a year for one of my friends to get back to normal
