Does anyone recommend beta blockers if you already have a low resting HR? Cardiologist considered it but because of my age suggested instead i just calm down with my cardio running workouts to raise my resting HR … any thoughts.
(Currently get palpitations at rest)

In this situation I would certainly take the advice from a qualified health professional such as a cardiologist who has some detailed knowledge of my condition, rather than the opinion of someone on this forum, however well intentioned they may be.
Hi there I take 25mg flecanide twice a day and half of a 1.25mg does of bisoprolol once a day ..I was prescribed 50mg flec and a 1.25mg of bisoprolo 12 months ago for my palpatations...at the time my cardio said if i eased right back on my intense cycling , running and swimming regime he thought my palps would settle down ..he said it would take 6 to 9 months for this to happen. So march last year I stopped cycling altogether quit running , started walking but continued with the swimming and they have settled right down...so much that I've halved the lowest dose I was put on last October and still have been ok since...also my cardio has put back my abaltion to see if this improvement continues...it was a hard choice but the right one in the end...to much excercise can definatley have a negative effect just as not enough can ..moderate excercise is the way forward for me anyway and maybe something you should consider...all the best andyb
Hi just to add , I was exactley the same as you low pulse rate of around the 40,s at rest and the high level of fitness didn't help the situation either and palpatations would start when resting and relaxing...beta blocker on its own made it worse...flecanide is what really helped me with very low dose of beta blocker to help combat any other unwanted arrhythmias...maybe worth asking your cardio if that's worth looking at , all the best andy..
The cardiologist said its only advised and no evidence to back that up just studies in the US. He did mention alot of younger people have come forward with similar situations.
