Good afternoon all,

Had two stents in Feb 2020 in the LAD pain in chest is masked by fibromyalgia following this with an Angina diagnosis in Oct 2020... have had not face to face contact with rehab team unsure of what exercise regime to undertake together with pulse rate extensions. Also be interested in other experiences and location of pain areas in the chest?

Hi I have only just started seeing the rehab team over video call, not the same as in person, but they have been great in helping me with what I should be doing, I have spoken to a very knowledgeable nurse and a physio, they answered all my questions and directed me to the correct excersise program on the British heart foundation Web sight, the dietitian has also organised a phone call, it is definitely worth chasing up, the hospital I had my surgery in referred me, mabe you could call them or your gp char

Hi Sunforce

I had a couple of stents just over 2 years ago. Afterwards, I also had pain in my chest that I found worrying. I spoke to the rehab team several times and they wouldn't let me start the exercises until everything had calmed down. I also spoke to my doctor about what I was feeling.

The reassurance they gave really helped me. Heart problems were then new to me. The issues are physical, but they affected my mind too, and greatly. I have had to learn a lot, quickly.

We are all different, what one treatment does and works me may not work for you. So, I felt I needed to rely on the doctors and nurses, I also phoned the BHF helpline too.

In english, we have great difficulty describing pain, but now, I can recognise differences and know more about what I should do when each type of pain occurs. As to the location, it could be anywhere, ( but that's just my experience, you could be totally different). Sometimes/often, for me, it is a sign to rest (I can as I am retired). I still have problems if I need to lift things down from a high shelf - so I now have steps, both upstairs and down to use as needed.

Exercise is an essential part of my regime, but I don't overdo it; I don't have targets, I do what I can, when I can. Is it working? - well, I'm still here, still aiming to be the oldest surviving family member in 2-3 decades time! (Nothing like having a long term plan!)

Hi I had Numerous a and e visits after my stent 18 months ago. I have fibro and I’m always fobbed off with this I had a blocked artery and severe angina which was put down to fibro I also have dysphagia and this causes spasms which appear like a heart attack . I exercise as much as possible and have been told I have an irregular heartbeat the pain is always so severe it’s hard to tell. My thought was if gtn doesn’t work on 3 time after trying gaviscon 999 it’s better if you are worried to check it out my pain is always central across the bra line in my left arm and I often get stomach pain when you have fibro it’s hard because the NHS fob you off a lot I’ve had 21 years of it But still here thanks to listening to my body and camping in GPS surgery I do hydro aqua and exercise bike walk with dogs nothing will stop me I live life no pain no gain I’ve had fibro for 22 years it won’t get the better of me . I hope this helps Look after yourself life after stent with angina is daunting but I’m treating it like the fibro. Take care
