I am 56 with ectopics, aorta regurgitation & aorta dilatation and lupus. My cholesterol has come back at 5:2. Not sure whether to start statins - GP says it’s up to me at this stage. Just would welcome any views. Thank you.

With heart issues you should really be 4.0 or below. I posted a reply about them in this thread yesterday:

I suggest you give them a try and go from there...

I can't take Statins as they upset my tummy. My GP has tried tiny doses but the same thing happens. My colestrol is too high but I have to be careful with my diet and my GP keeps an eye on my blood and told me not to worry. I have high bP and heart valve disease. I would try them if I could take them, but it's up to you and your doctors. Good luck!
