Tonight's (27th October) episode features a 75 year old with an enlarged aorta that is life threatening. I have found all this series fascinating although I missed half of last weeks with observations and medication. 😕

Have watched the full series and it is indeed fascinating. Only one that was unclear was the first program. Was the hip reconstruction done as a private procedure? The patient had cancer and the chances of survival were slim at best. Very unfortunate.

All the surgeons really at the top of their game for sure.

Amazing watching what these people can do. Wasn't there a case of enlarged aorta on a while ago, on the series Hospital I think, or have I made that up!

No idea! 🤔 But at the same time tonight on More4 in "24 Hours In A&E" a man is rushed in with an aortic aneurism.

Watched this last night and can only stand back in awe. Such astonishing skill and such extraordinary men and women. And both surgeons featured were so humble. We are blessed.

I agree, both procedures were so complex and the surgeon’s ( and teams) were so methodical and precise it was a quite simply superb.

It’s brilliant - I just watch & think how do they know to do these things!!! Like the 1st episode - draining the blood & reducing the body temp to 20 to allow removal of clots - in awe of the specialists

It was amazing... Although I couldn't really 'watch' & spent most of the time covering my eyes!

Its done me good to focus my mind on these amazing specialists and the skills they have. Its true you can find fault in the system but not on those who dedicate themselves to saving lives.

Agree, amazing doctors. And how they manage to stand and perform such delicate, intricate procedures for six or seven hours. Their concentration and stamina is astounding.

I don't usually watch medical programmes but I did see the last half of the BBC2 programme last night. As others have said amazing how the surgeons have the stamina and focus to carry out these long and complex operations. Total respect.

I have watched this series and it is indeed fascinating and I can honestly say that all the doctors and nurses are fantastic at Royal Papworth. I had a HA on Easter Sunday this year and had 4 stents fitted at Papworth and I am and always will be grateful for their efforts in getting me back on my feet, the surgeons are at the top of their game.
