Hi I had an icd for a couple of years (I have recently had a transplant, so it is gone now) I found it really reassuring and much less stressful to go anywhere especially on holiday, I felt I could rely on it to fire if anything happened, which it did once, I didn't even notice much to the amazement of my cardiologist, I had a home monitor and it let them know, I couldn't drive for six months but it was a small price to pay, I was definitely less anxious about things once it was fitted, please message me if there is anything you would like to ask, take care char
Hi Thank you for replying, so when it went off you weren’t even aware is that quite unusual? The not driving thing is a huge issue for me as I have the school run each day, could you see the device on your chest?
Hi it fired at 5.30 am, I was sound asleep, I think I did stir a bit but just rolled over and went back to sleep, the hospital phoned about 11 telling me go in, I had an overnight stay and everything was fine, it's not unknown but quite unusual, the no driving for six months was the biggest pain, but its for safety reasons, I got mine back as soon as, everything had been fine, an icd is dvla notifiable, you could see mine because I am under 8 stone, nothing to pad it out with! 🙄 After a while I just got used to it the scar faded and I hardly noticed it, char
