Not feeling good 🙁

Hi all. It’s been a week since my stent (recap they tried to go in my arm and failed so had to go through the groin) anyway, yesterday I started getting pain in my arm from wrist to elbow arm is still very bruised too so probably that but then my lower leg whole calf muscle started hurting too I’ve been in pain all day. I’m going to phone the number I have for the cardiac nurses tomorrow but has any one else had this. It’s really quite painful and making it hard to sleep or rest.

I have had three angios, two via the groin and one via the wrist. The only problem was bad bruising after the first one via the groin.

I do not like the fact you have calf pain. If you still have pain this morning, and particularly if you have swelling and/or redness, get yourself straight to A&E as it may be a DVT. The danger with these is that a piece may break off and typically lodge in a lung with with serious consequences. Do keep us updated.

Did you take action? .....I’ve only just seen your post from 8 hours ago. I hope you didn’t wait any longer, got some good advice?

Hey Forest, how are you feeling?

I had this once after knee surgery; My Dad had a clot that led to a pulmonary embolism in the past, so i was straight to the Doctor for a simple blood test. I was ok, but after seeing my Dad so ill, i take no chances.

Please do the same x

Update, FD? What did the cardiac nurse say when you telephoned this morning?

Hi all thanks for the reply’s, I phoned the cardiac nurse this morning and they don’t think it’s anything sinister. I have no swelling or heat from my calf and no other symptoms so they don’t think it’s a blood clot. I also have PAD and they think it could be acting up because of inactivity. Regarding my arm She thinks as I’m still very bruised, and I’m just taking longer to heal. I just have to take paracetamol and take it easy and if it gets worse in the next few days to phone them back. X

Thank-you for the update and hopefully you won't have any escalation:)

FWIW, I had angio through my right wrist and a right heart study through the groin late November 2019 - at the same time! The bruising and aching on my wrist was 'not fun' and lasted close to a month (but several more before I could tolerate wearing a bracelet or wristwatch on that arm).

The bruising on the groin - OH MY WORD! I looked one time only about three days post-procedure and never looked again - it stretched from insertion point to middle of my stomach and down to mid-thigh, was several horrific shades of green-blue-purple and ached like nothing I've experienced before. The ache went away after two weeks or so and was easily controlled with my permitted 2x300mg prn per day aspirin and I have no clue how long it took for the bruising to fade because after that first look, I didn't look again until about a month ago (bruising gone:) ).

Yes that deep ache in the arm is horrendous! My groin is bruised and multi coloured too. Half way down my thigh and across my hip. I’m feeling pretty fragile to be honest and not that great. Just feeling off and not right at all. X

I knew I was recovering from the second day - everyone is different but if you're feeling 'something isn't right' it might be a good idea to ring back to the doctor in the morning and say just that - 'Something doesn't feel right'.

Hopefully it's just a nothing but better safe than sorry.

Honestly I tried to yesterday and he was very dismissive, hence why I phoned the cardiac nurse today. I feel like I’m bothering them now because I ‘should be recovering fine’ sorry, I’m very down about feeling so poorly when I should be feeling better 🙁

Please be easy on yourself your body has been through a lot. Just because the holes are small, it doesn't mean the trauma inside is.

Before the surgery you were very poorly and had been for long time. Your body has alot to recover from.

Thank you. That’s what I keep trying to tell myself, I feel a bit of a burden on my family at the moment. I know they don’t mind really, but it will be nice to get back to some kind of feeling okay x

And you will eventually :) After 10 years of thinking you would feel like s***t forever? Whats a few more weeks? You've got this x

Good luck hope you find out what is causing the issue. I unfortunately did suffer artery damage after my angio via groin in march which will ultimately lead to more surgical intervention as I am left with intermittent cramp type pain when walking or standing for any length of time

Like everyone has mentioned best to check

absolutely i had the same with my arm also dont forget your probably on blood thinners which makes you bruise more And just like a conventional bruise can be painful, paracetamol help. I also ended up in A E due to my arm it took a while to heal

but well done you have done the worst give yourself a pat on the back.

recovery does take a while but you will get there

and bruising takes a while to heal to

Give yourself 2 to 3 months to recover. The medical literature gives the impression that you can go back to work in a week, but we are all different. It took me 3 months after my 2 stents. Now I feel much better.
