One year since my unexpected HA. One stent fitted and a triple bypass October 2019. Had blood test mid July and all good. But GP put me back on Ramipril and changed statin. After two weeks my energy levels were not good and was feeling run down most of the time. After discussing this with GP I am on a statin break and no Ramipril. Feeling a lot better and back to where I was. Walking and golfing no problem. The only thing I am noticing is my BP is rising. 135/82. Was 125/70. Now I know this is not high or dangerous but wondering why the rise. Still on bisoprolol 1.25. Ticagrelor 90x2 and aspirin 75mg.
Due to call GP on Monday and will discuss just wondering if anyone has similar.

I do. 4 months ago emergency valve replacement and graft (HA Dec 2017). Ramipril stopped and I still take aspirin, statin and bisoporol. Leaving hospital and until 14th Aug BP average 106/75, It suddenly went to 173/101 but came down to stay around 135/85 . I have a cardiologist call on 7th Sept but would like to know if you get any answers this week. Beginnning to think I should be back on Ramipril......
My BP was really high 160/100 averagely until my cardiologist put my ramipril up to 5mg, now it’s hovers around the 115/75 mark.
Yea, dizzy 🥴 & a headache every single day. I felt like I was teeing myself up for another cardiac event. My EF is 46%, so I know the less pressure on my left ventricle the better.
Yes but the problem is that I was not on ramipril after my bypass surgery and BP was lower than now. But hopefully GP will recommend an alternative if required.
I’ve been on Ramipril 2.5 mg and lacidipine 4mg for two years. Interesting that you mention energy levels. I excercise regularly and maintain a healthy diet but don’t feel 100% all the time. I don’t feel poorly but head feels wuzzy quite often ( apart from when I excercise ) and I’m convinced it’s the medication.BP at docs last was 128/80 so not worried about that however I’m reluctant to go and mention it as I think they’ll only ‘ try something else ‘
and with what effect?! I’m not convinced they really know what they’re doing and so much is down to trial and error! And just to add if anyone is reading this a thank you to all for giving me a kick regarding measuring my own blood pressure which I now do happily once a week haha! Cheers.
Like Atorvastatin is the default statin, Ramapril is the default ACE Inhibitor. In all cases others are available. It may be, for instance, that an ARB suits you better. Good luck!
