A myxoma is a tumour of the heart. Most commonly they occur in the wall separating the upper two chambers.

Often they are asymptomatic and spotted during an echocardiogram. If you get symptoms they can include breathlessness and chest pain.

As suggested call the BHF nurses.

My friend had one of these. A very large one by the end. He was taken to A&E several times, over a year, after experiencing the symptoms of a heart attack; pain, breathless sweating, tightness in his chest, impending doom. They told him it was panic attacks and never referred him on. Eventually he collapsed at work. He is now "cancer free" but it has very much left its mark.

Whatever is wrong, it seems your symptoms are being taken much more seriously, which is great. I hope everything goes well next week.

Hi i had a myxoma, my symptoms where shortness of breath when exercising, dizziness...and that was pretty much it.

Good luck with your echo, that is how mine was discovered.
